I'm not sure where to post this question, so mods, feel free to move it if appropriate.

Anyhow, I'm having problems with my 3.5" floppy. I have valuable information on the floppy, but when I try to open it up, I get this message:

"A:\' is not accessible. The disk media is not recognized. It may not be formatted."

Now, I've used this disk before as I have saved, opened, & modified files on it before, but now I think the disk has become corrupt. Is there any way to fix it or recover some of the data? I'm new when it comes to fixing these kinds of things. Thanks!!!

Well personally I love floppies because they come in handy when I have to truble shoot and stuff, but unfortunately they do have this problem of becoming corrupt and then you can't access the data. I'm sure there are other people who have much more experience than I do will give you some good advice but here is my two cents hope that helps:
1-Try putting the floppy in another computer see if that works. Its totally possible that its not your disk, its your drive
2-Try accessing the floppy drive through DOS prompt
3-Nothing works, and data is that critical try contacting a data recovery company. Good luck

I've tried that too with no success. I get message that says something like:

The volume does not contain a recognized file system. Please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupt.

Anything else? Are there any tools to help abstract data. I've tried using the scan disk to check for errors, but nothing happens when it tries to scan.
