Question Running two copies of MSN Messenger 6

I would really like to be able to run two instances of MSN Messenger 6.0 as I'd like to be able to log in, simultaneously, using two different accounts.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

I can currently run both MSN 4.7 and 6.0 together, but ideally I want two copies of 6.0 ('cos I'm awkward like that).

I've previously used Trillian, which can do this, but makes a bit of a mess of it (it mixes both contact lists - so all contacts are notified of both accounts - D'OH). I specifially want to use MSN.

Any help would be very greatly appreciated

If no one comes up with a way to use MSN Messenger in multiple instances, maybe you can use MSN Messenger for one account and Trillian for the other. That way they are separated.

Thanks Twisted, that's a good suggestion - but ideally I'd like to use two instances of Messenger [6.0]. (I'm just bitter that Trillian screwed-up my contact list - which was potentially rather embarassing! )

Any other ideas, anyone?

Nafun, I hear ya with the IM issues...the IM landscape is changing so much these days that many third-party clients are being shut out of connection. Yahoo just announced that they are updating the network and this will likely affect Trillian and Gaim users, and MSN recently did the same.

Also, out of curiosity I scoped the Trillian website, and noted that one of the features in the Pro (paid) version is "Per Connection Contact Lists"

If you aren't successful with those patches, and your using Windows XP, you could set up a second user account, log on with both accounts and use fast user switching between the two. A bit cluncky solution, but it should work.
