Cant make outlook express my default

hello,

i searched but couldnt find an answer to my current problem. i am running windows xp-- home and ie 6.0. when i go to my internet properties there is nothing to choose in the email tab under properties. i am using outlok express as my email program and it works fine but it will not let me set it as my email default. when i am on the web and want to send a page or a link, i am sent to configure something with microsoft exchange server or microsoft mail. i would like it just to use outlook express, or i would like to set up a configuration with the exchange server but i have no idea how to do either. any ideas? -- jim

So if you go to tools on I.E. 6.0 and internet options then click on programs for E-mail you don't have Outlook Express as an option in the drop down menu?

Go to this MS site to make Outlook Express your default e-mail client. Scroll down to the section, Register Outlook Express as the Default E-mail Program.

The instructions on that page say:

Type the following line, including the quotation marks, where drive is the letter of the drive in which Outlook Express is installed, and then click OK:
"drive:\program files\outlook express\msimn.exe" /reg

That means substitute the letter of the drive where the msimn.exe is located which is probably C.

So what you should type in is probably:

"C:\program files\outlook express\msimn.exe" /reg
