the best way to answer the first question....
is kazaa safe to use?
is to do a search here on the CTH forums for 'kazaa' and count how many times people have complained about problems that have been caused by using the program and consequently asking others for help in removing kazaa from their system.

As for the second question, what 'stuff' are you referring to?

***edit: ignore this post, not about kazaar***

KazzaLite is safer to use in terms of spyware/malware. The best version I could find is this one. (http://doa2.host.sk/)
If the stuff your referring to is the file sharing, alot of virus and trojans could be downloaded from Kazza if your not careful. Run your AV always in the background and scan every file before opening.

I believe the original question was about kazaar, rather than kazaa. The 'other stuff' is MarketScore and tons of other....stuff.

sorry about changing that, I did not realize that there was such a program called 'kazaar', thought it was just a misspelling of 'kazaa'. I changed it back to kazaar

There is no such thing as Kazaar. Kazaar is a common German misspelling
of Kazaa. Kazaar is also used by some as a search engine misdirect. Even if
you go to kazaar.com you'll see it redirects to song-download-world.com. You
want to laugh, go read the FAQ on song-download-world.com.

The reference about Marketscore is just a rouse. It the same thing, someone using
the misspelling of Kazaa to get hits on something else. This is from their site...
https://www.marketscore.com/c/faq.asp#A20

Marketscore is an Internet market research company with the goal of understanding
and helping others to understand Internet trends and patterns. Just as television uses
the rating services to determine which are the most watched programs and to effect the
shows and commercials we watch, the Internet community relies on the Marketscore
members to understand the like and dislikes of Internet users. As a research organization,
our goal is to understand your browsing and buying habits and not influence them. For
this reason, we do not advertise on our site or sell your name to any businesses for
marketing purposes.

What does that mean? Call a duck a duck...it's Spyware.

All that is really out there with that name "Kazaa" in it is...

Kazaa
The original file sharing program. Installs spyware on your computer.

Kazaa Lite
A decompile/recompile of the real Kazaa. That means someone took Kazaa apart programmatically
and put it back together so it runs without spyware installing on your computer.

Kazaa Lite K++
A newer version of Kazaa Lite that blocks RIAA from connecting to your computer.

So unless someone actually has a link to something to download called "kazaar" I doubt
the animal exists.

Which download on that site is safest. I'm sure a few of the sites quoted are porn ones and thus are also incorporating unnecessary files with the programme for their own agenda.

Keep in mind that the responces here have addressed how safe it is for your computer...not how legally safe it is. If you are downloading illegal stuff they may or may not find you and sue you. "If you can't do the time, don't do the crime"

It is safe to use if you are willing to put up with spyware, possible lawsuits from riaa, trojans and viruses, and other more unpopular uses of kazaa.

Would I use it, ain't no way...

One of the most Spyware and virus prone MP3 file-shares on the Net.
If you have it installed, use this uninstaller to get rid of all of it.

Ignoring the legal and ethical side of P2P (as there are legitimate uses for them)
Have a look at this article (http://www.spywareinfo.com/articles/p2p/) at spywareinfo, that lists all the P2P apps that don't install loads of trash

Agreed, if you gotta do the P2P thing, use Bittorrent. I use Shad0w's experimental client S-5.4.2 , but I hear Burst! is another good one.

Here's a couple of sites to check out:
