Help would be appreciated, the image on my monitor looks like a crappy photocopy or bad print job, anywhere there is a line or text it is "smeared" and there are horizontal lines all the way across the screen. I don't know if it is my monitor or the graphics card...any suggestions! (I can't afford to try replacing either without knowing which to replace)

The mouse doesn't effect the lines at all. There isn't any trailing. The lines show up on all screens, even the scandisk screen when having to reboot cause the computer froze up.
We used my stepdaughter's monitor from her computer to see if that made any difference, the lines were still there. I can only imagine that it is either the graphics card or the drivers. It was fine Friday night and Saturday morning the lines were there (the computer had not been shut down over night, only the monitor turned off). It has been rebooted since. Thanks again! |

Sounds like your graphics card is fried. I had a simular problem a couple of weeks ago. Power surge fried my card and I was getting a smudged mouse and the text on the screen was blurred out. I recommend trying another video card in teh system to see if that makes a difference.
