Hey guy,
I have a problem and I have no idea how to go about trying to fix it...I went away for the weekend and when I came back my computer was screwed up. By that I mean that while most programs are running as well as ever, when ever I right click on any files or try to delete them Explorer freezes up. does any one have any idea what might have happend?

If you left it on all weekend it is possible you had some power problems.
I would try running a Thorough Scandisk and Defrag of the system first. See if that helps it out....
BTW, Welcome to CTH... and dont forget to post back with results...

This gives some merit to the old arguement about not leaving the machine on and unattended for any length of time. Was anyone else permitted to use your machine during that period? Aside from that or power spikes, I have no idea what may have happened. You might try the Physic Hotline for that information. I think they charge something like $9.95 a minute though. Usually they will tell you what you want to hear.

ok I figured out what it was, Friday before I left I had installed a temporary cd-wr and forgot to reattach my floppy with the correct ribbon(hangs head in shame). But while I have fixed this problem it does lead me to another one....why does my computer read to my a: when ever I right click on something?

Probably because the file you last right-clicked on was in the floppy drive, and it is stuck trying to relook there first.
Put any floppy in the floppy drive. Then right-click anything anywhere. It should try the floppy first and finish what it was doing before. Maybe even give you an error, but should be done..hopefully. Then right-click a file in My Documents or elsewhere on the hard drive. Should go back to normal then.
I had a similar thing where the thing I was doing (forget now what) went searching there first. I did the above and that was it.
