I have windows 95 installed on my machine but someone changed the version of dos and now i cant load windows. I'm not really sure where to turn, i basically need to install the dos version that is compatible with the already installed Win95. Thanks

BTW, i would really prefer not to format my hard drive....alot of info on there wasnt backed up. I'm a fairly new user to this particular computer.

You said someone installed a new version of dos??? Explain further. What happens when you type win at dos prompt?

Dan,

Someone used the A:\ sys C: with a Windows 98 boot disk

when typing the C:\win, i would get an invalid directory.

I did fix the problem by downloading a Win95 boot disk - it just took me a while to realize that I needed to type sys C: to convert dos back to win 95 version

Thanks for the reply
