Access 97 with Period

My Regional Settings are Belgian(Dutch).
By default my decimal separator is a comma.
When I change this to a period the problem starts.
In access 97 the decimal period is ignored.
1.23 is changed to 123

I had the same problem with win2000 but it is solved by installing the service pack.

However I haven't found a solution for win98.

Can anybody help me ?
