I compiled a CD with all .wav files, but when I burned it, it came out with .cda files. Does anyone know how this happened? It will play in car cd players and on a couple of players in my compter, but it will not play on my home dvd/cd player. This, also, happened when I tried to burn a video cd.

.cda is the correct format for a CD Audio disk. When WAV or MP3 are written to an Audio CD they are converted into .cda files which PC media players will recognise.
How old is your home CD player?
Does your DVD player support Audio CDs?
Have you tried different CDs? Memorex, Phillips, verbatim etc. are usually reliable.

Some DVD players will only play burned CDs made by certain manufacturers and others will not play them at all in the name of "copyright protection." Check your manual to see which applies to your DVD player. I recommend Toshiba and Samsung DVD players, mine will both play anything.
Also, if it is an older DVD player, it may not support VCD/SVCD and definately will not support KVCD, but it should still play burned audio CDs, so again check your manual to view supported formats/brands.
edit: Almost forgot, some DVD players only support CD-R discs. CD-RW discs are a no go. This info can also be found in the manual.
