I'm using a win95 explorer shell with no IE intergration. When I right click->new-> wordpad I get nothing. It works for all other file types (.txt, .wav etxc.) I did read somewhere that this was a bug in Win95 explorer but I also heard there was a fix.
Anybody got a clue for me?
Much thanks!!

Hi Merrick - I have attached a file that should fix the problem provided you do not need MS Word in the "New" menu. When you download it, change the file name to doc.reg and doubleclick on it to merge with your registry. Before you do this however, run regedit and navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and scroll down to the .doc key. Select that key and export it to your desktop. If Murphys Law occurs, you can always remove the key you replaced and put the original back. You dont need to reboot for it to take effect.
I cannot find a way to have both Microsoft Word and Wordpad in the New Menu. If you are running both, the attached file will displace Word. I have fiddled with it for a couple of hours now but no matter what I change, one displaces the other...I dunno.

Hi AnnMarie and thanks for your hard work. Unfortunately this fix dosen't work but it could be due to my modified explorer shell. 95explorer over 98SE engine and no IE intergration at all. Hmmm. I wish I knew where I saw that reference to this particular bug. If I find it you can bet I'll post it. Still more eclectic 95explorer questions comming...

You are welcome Merrick. Oh well, it doesnt look as though it's a registry issue. I guess you checked the Open Action in Folder Options > View tab to make sure that the path was correct and had "%1" at the end of it.

yep everything is correct there. Does DDE box (unchecked) have anything to do with this?

Nope, it's supposed to be unchecked. Back to the drawing board!
