I am having problems formatting and partitioning my hard drive. At first, my hard drive wasn't being recognized. I switched to another cable, and now the hard drive is there. I then wanted to perform a clean windows 98 se install, so I deleted all current partitions and tried to create a single partition. It took about 6 tries to create the partition. Everytime, when the "verifying disk integrity" message came up, it froze about 57% through, or it would go back to 0% and freeze. I was able to create the partition eventually. Now I am trying to format the drive. When I do, I get a "Not Ready" "Format Terminated" error. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

I had a similar situation that was resolved by downloading the HDD manufacturer's diagnostic/utilities, running a low level format, and then doing fdisk, format.

Don't know if that would apply here. Best wishes.
