Fatal exception

while I was re-loading windows95 on the computer a screen came up and said "A fatal exception OD has occurred at 171F:00001311 press any key to continue" or Ctrl plus Alt and Delete to restart computer. I have tried pressing any key and nothing happens I also restarted the computer as directed and still nothing happens, it did run scan disc and fixed any problem there but still gave me the Fatal exception OD as stated above, any ideas as to the problem or problems and how to fix? thanks.

At what point during the Windows installation did this occur? What was the last message displayed during the loading process before this happened?

At what point during the Windows installation did this occur? What was the last message displayed during the loading process before this happened?

I had just completed loading the windows95 on the Hard Drive and the last message said that it was done and would shut down the computer and restart it and complete the install and it did and the message on the bottom of the screen said you are now starting windows95 for the first time and after about one minute of that screen the fatal exception screen came up and told me to press any key to continue or press Ctrl and Alt and delete to restart the computer, I did just that, first pressed any key to continue several times and nothing happened and I shut the computer down as instructed and restarted and nothing happened, when it was re-started a screen came up and ask me to re-start the computer in "Safe mode" and I did and the Windows95 screen logo came up and after about 30 seconds went to the fatal exception screen. System is a Gateway G6-233m, PentiumII-233 Mhz slot1 CPU, 128 MB RAM, Windows95 OSR2.1, Intel 440FX Natoma chipset, S3 Nitro 3D/GX EDO1.1 video card, Ensoniq 1370 sound card, Linksys Ether16 LAN card, Promise ULTRA33 Bus Master PCI RAID controller card, Telepath for Windows modem card.
