Windows 95 download on dell lattitude
I purchased a refurbished dell latitude laptop without an operating system.
I successfully (I think) loaded a WIN95 boot disk and then tried to load Windows 95. The Windows 95 CD was in new condition (still sealed in envelope) and came from a previous computer which is now dead. The laptop displays "Invalid System disk Replace the disk, and then press any key" repeatedly after pressin a key. The tech support person who sold the computer walked me through a few steps making sure the dirves were set up correctly, etc to no avail. Finally suggested contacting Cybertechhelp. Help! |

Hi. Welcome to CTH.
When you boot using the boot diskette, do you get an A:> prompt? It sounds like you don't. If not, the first thing to check is to make sure that the BIOS is set to boot from the diskette drive. When you power on the laptop, you should at some point see a message like 'Press <F1> to enter setup' or something similar. The actual key sequence may be something else. Use that to get into the BIOS setup and check the boot sequence. Also, unless your Windows 95 boot diskette has the DOS CD-ROM drivers on it, you may not be able to access the Windows CD using it. You may want to download the file(s) to create a Windows 98 boot diskette from http://www.bootdisk.com and use one of those. A Win 98 boot diskette will work for loading Windows 95. |
