Question Adobe Illustrator 8.0 Issues...

[size=1][color=Black][font=Verdana]

hi there.
i'm having trouble opening files in Adobe Illustrator 8.0. i'm using a PC and when i open the program i can't see my tool bar at the top or the page i'm opening. when i click to open a file i can see the layers that belong to the file but not the file itself. did that make sense? is there any way to fix this problem?
thank you!

Hi Psychedelic, welcome to CTH

Is this a new installation of Illustrator or have you been using it for some time and it's developed this problem?

Illustrator is very resource hungey, so you might need to install some extra RAM. One of the versions of about the era of v8 was apparently quite buggy, so upgrading to the current version might be a good option if funds permit.

It could be a conflict with the graphics card, updating the drivers for that might help, also make sure that directx is up to date, www.microsoft.com/directx

my suggestion upgrade to illustrator 10 it is far better but i think that you go to your preferences and then you reset all that you did and then restart illustrator. if this is the same as Photoshop then do press the tab or ctrl tab or shift tab. Good luck!
