i recently was not hooked up to the net for about a month.computer was running fine before that, but since ive re-hooked up to cable internet its been glitching and slow and seems to lock up quite a bit.
i ran the mcafee online virus scan and it came up with this-----c:\winnt\best.exe
i searched my computer for this file but cannot find it---it also said that the file type was a downloader-ds.what is a downloader-ds and is this what is giving me the grief.
i also ran spybot search and destroy and came up with a couple of tracking cookies(no big deal)but also two files in winnt that ended in .dll
im running windows 2k professional on a compac with 20 gig hd,128mb memory
with a 750 mhz amd duron processor.
any ideas would be greatly appreciated
oh and if i left out any pertinent info please let me know

Hi sunspun - you are very welcome. :) There are lots of nasties in that log. Go here (http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/cwshredder.zip) and download and run CWShredder.exe. Did you go online and update Spybot before you ran it? If not, do so and then when you have rebooted, post back a new Hijack This log.

(just kickin your ego up a notch lol)
LOL!!!
I think that the patch required relates to MS Virtual Machine however it would be a good idea to install all security updates.
A tidyup now. Run Hijack This again and select the below entries and click on fix selected. Reboot afterwards.
