Whoa! How's it going Steve ? ;)
Typical you coming around after the weekends result aye lol :D
Newcastle aren't looking to great atm although I still think they'll end up in the top 5 easily.
Saints however, another top half finish will do the club wonders. We got a star in Kevin Philips and combined with Beattie we shouldn't have any probs I hope! :)

Doing good mate :) Works real hectic atm but trying to find the time to do all the things I like doing.
Really looking forward to the Rugby world cup. It's probably the only sport, apart from Darts and snooker, that we're any good at these days.
My bet to win would be NZ, but I will ofcourse be backing England all the way. We don't have a bad group considering.
As for the Saints Vs Newcastle game - I think you guys were so desperate for a win you would have beaten most premiership teams that day. I can't believe you guys are where you are in the league. On paper you guys have a fantastic chance to come 4th (ish).
Smurfy you like Man City ?!?!?!
Funny how countries where football is far from a national sport people still have a UK footy team favourite.
Usually it's Man Utd. My wife goes for Arsenal because her Grandfather supported them (pom).
But Smurfy you've got me wondering why you support Man City!
smurfy
October 6th, 2003, 11:22 PM
I played soccer at school and that's about the last time I actively supported any Div 1 (wasn't the "premier league" back then LOL :) ) side.
Why Man City? Being fashionably unfashionable perhaps? A good way to pick fights with all the United "gravy train" supporters :D
I can't even remember who they had back then (geez - 20 years ago!).
Still I follow them enough to have been pi55ed off when they dropped out of the premier league and happy when they went back up.

Arghhh!! Go ahead rub salt in the wounds. I think I'm scarred for life from watching the US game. I have to agree that the Ghana v. italy game was much better and that it was a bit scary to watch 'cause the US could end up with 0 points if they continue to play the way they did yesterday.
bm, if you really want to try to understand the offside rule, take a look HERE (javascript: var mwin = ''; mwin=window.open('/en/laws/flash/start.html','LawsoftheGame2005_Flash','resizable=n o, width=800,height=600');mwin.focus();).

Yes the US has a team and a league of its own. The US is actually in the same group as Italy and Ghana. Hopefully they can step up and play some good ball against those teams and at least come out with a few points. Though who ever comes out in 2nd from the group is in for it as they most likely be playing Brasil in the next round.

I was able to see the USA/Italy game today. The refereeing (sp) was disgusting, the first red card was justified, the second was dubious, but that third one......all I can say is I hope that ref is kicked out of the World Cup games, thankfully it didn't really affect the result, which for USA would have been a good one had they won their first match.

:rotflmao: er...... yeah.
We have the players but i think the team need to play alot better together. If i was the manager i would play a 3-5-2 formation with wingbacks. This would be my team.
Goal keeper : Robinson
Central defenders: Terry and Ferdinand
Sweeper: Carragher
Wing backs: Ashley Cole and Beckam
Central midfielders: Gerrard and Lampard
Attacking midfielder: Rooney or Joe Cole
Strikers: Crouch and Owen
To change it arround abit you could always get rid of Owen for Lennon. Put Lennon on the right side, Cole or Rooney on the left, and then Crouch as the Central striker to hold up the ball for the midfielders.
I wish I was England manager.

With regards to the World Cup, I reckon Argentina will win it.I think Brasil has a good chance. However, gets to the end will deserve to be there. I'm just hoping that the US can advance. After the first game, I figured no way, but they looked better against Italy. The officiating of that game and some of the other games have been horrible. But, in the long run I don't think it'll make much difference on who makes it out of the knockout rounds.

20 miles west, halfway between Cardiff and Swansea - Bridgend. Good for the coast.
My sis married a geordie copper in the early 80's. Lived in Eaton Close(?) behind the nick, opposite the Infirmary at the top of Westgate Hill. It's a cracking place, your toon.
Still can't work out how the bottom half of that illusion works though.

LOL, Steve. I don't think I ever touched this thread.....I have this bizarre phobia of threads that are more than 5 pages long! For real! I rarely open them up because the thought of reading it all exhausts me. But now that I see broomsticks and all, I just might have to do it! :D
Here's from the other thread, like you asked:
Doing fine, Steve! Went to London and to Loughborough and surrounding areas (York, for one) a few years ago with Dave and his missus and other friends, loved that more than anything. Even met Degs. Katrina blew into New Orleans last year and to make a long story short, I'm in Atlanta now and both hubby and I have good jobs and are doing well, we like it here. I'm getting good and old and by the time my eight hours are up every day, I feel like I'm 100 years old! I run a forum for transcriptionists now and I like that. But basically, I'm the same as always!
Your turn!

July 7th, 2006, 03:18 PM
Yes, from New Orleans, Steve. We were lucky, living in an apartment building that was okay. We were there for the storm, actually. Now, relatives who lost their house are living there. So that worked out in a weird sort of way. Our jobs were pretty much history is the thing, and then it was "closed" for so long. First we were in Arkansas, then moved here for hubby's work. It was scary, but has worked out. He's down there right now.
It was a beautiful experience for us! I loved England! The sprawl and ugliness of some surburbia here seemed completely missing over there. It was so nice, so charming really. I can see where York might be considered posh, LOL, but I enjoyed the heck out of it. Those narrow, narrow streets....those old, old, old, OLD churches and buildings. LOL. I loved it! Loved London too, but you'd have to be there quite awhile to see it all, crikey. I sure had trouble looking the wrong way when getting ready to cross the street, ha! One day I hope I can go back. I would have loved to go to Newcastle, to Manchester, all sorts of places! What's Cornwall like?

Black mirror, it sure was pretty bad traffic in London, but the foot traffic almost killed me too, LOL! I never saw people walk so fast in my life! No dawdling on those streets, geeez. I seriously don't think people move any faster in New York!
OMG, I would love to go to Cornwall! It sounds fantastic. I like the country. I loved Loughborough, Steve! For one thing, Dave's mum was so good to us I had to fall in love with her right away. Secondly, we went to this big old beer mug thing.....ha, what is it called again, Dave? That was a whole lot of fun. And a park there, I think it was called Bradbury Park or something similar, we saw lots of deer, it was nice. We went to some restaurants around there - I went crazy over those steak and ale pies, they were de-lish. One thing that really threw me was the way you go in a restaurant over there, and give your order at the bar and then go to the table. Shoot, if no one had told me, I'd have sat at the table waiting forever. Hehe. We went into the town one day and had fun shopping, window shopping, anyway, and then we drove all around there. My husband and I stayed at a B&B not far from Loughborough. And we went to the Cotswolds, too. That was probably the highlight of it all. All this talk is making me want to go back!

Not that small anymore really, and there's still plenty of pubs around. ;)
The big ber mug that Harrie was talking about is actually called Old John (http://www.dave-anker.connectfree.co.uk/images/old_john.jpg), which is part of Bradgate Park (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bradgate_Park)
