HOCKEY SEASON!!!!!!

The Blue's season officially begins on the 10th, but the league play begins on the 8th and you better believe I'm going to be there getting sloppy drunk in front of the TV for the season opening faceoff.....

It should be a good season (and possibly the last for awhile depending on how the negotiations go between now and October 2004 -- lockout??) and I can't wait for it to be under way. So are there any other hockey fans here? I know there is.... who's your picks for this year?

Unfortunately, I gotta say it's going to be all Detroit in the West. With the addition of Hatcher on D, and all the power they got up front, all it's going to take is for Hasek to have a decent season (doesn't even have to be a great season, just decent) and they're going to be virtually unbeatable. As for the East, well who cares. I don't really follow the East too much, but from what I've seen the Devils and the Senators are probably looking to be the top contenders in their conference.

Also, a change in the divisional play should make for some more interesting games this year. Instead of playing 5 division games per team they're changing it to 6, which means 24 division games per team. While this doesn't seem like a huge change, it's going to make a massive difference in divsion play b/c that means and extra four (potentially) 4 point games per team. And especially towards the end of the season, this will mean the difference between being in the playoffs and watching the playoffs for some teams.

Well anyway, I just thought I'd share this... honestly I'm so excited about the start of hockey season I can hardly contain myself.
