Computer shuts down windows start
I'm running windows 95 on a HP Vectra computer. The computer shuts down when windows starts. The computer runs through the usual start up checks. The windows 95 splash screen appears and then the computer shuts off. I attempted to start in safe mode same results. The computer starts in command prompt only. I ran scandisk from the command prompt which found no errors. Any one have any suggestions.

Hi
This is most of the time a symptom of faulty hardware like RAM or Motherboard. There is also possibility of badly corrupted system files. Try re-installing Windows - if you still can't start even in safe mode it could most likely be a hardware problem. Rgds Niorsh
