restore os95

hello all
problem:I have old copacq computer and had to replace mainboard.
Now when I try to run restore disk it says "this is not a compacq
computer".How can I restore os?

You'll need a full version of an OS. If you really want 95 again you'll need to shop around eBay or something similar.

Your other option is to go to a computer salvage outlet and get a replacement (used) compaq motherboard. They should be very cheap if not free - that's if they haven't thrown them out as quickly as they come in.

Restore disks are for specific computers. Changing the motherboard basically turns the computer into another type. Because of this, you will need the full OS. Check ebay or possibly even the local computer store for a cheap copy of Win95. Remember Win95 is no longer supported by MS so getting drivers for your computer may be a major search. Depending upon the computer consider upgrading to Win98se
