Driver

Just formated and installed Windows 98, and display will not go over 16 bit color, where could I find the drivers for a PCI-VGA Compatible Display Adapter that will allow higher color?

That is your Lan chip for your network.

Try START | WINDOWS UPDATE

It may find a driver if not the easiest way to identify your video.

Reboot, hit F8 key when you see starting Windows, select COMMAND PROMPT, this will get you to:

C:\Windows

Now type the following hitting the <enter> key after each line:

debug

after typing this you should be at the following:

c:\Windows>DEBUG

Now type
D C000:0040 <HIT ENTER>
If that Doesn't find it try the following
D C000:00F0 <HIT ENTER>

The following will appear. On the right hand side you can see what your video card is:

There will be several rows of numbers, look to the far right then post that info here and we can help find it.

-d c000:0040
C000:0040 xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx

Well that helped but did not narrow it down. NVidea is the graphics chip.

Is this a Name Brand Computer, something you bought in a store? If so what brand/model, this may help us.

Right Click on "My Computer" then go to Properties, on the General TAB, how much memory is shown? Do you know if you have on-board video?

Does "Compact" mean anything to you?
I am pretty sure it is on-board.
When I opened it up there was only the eithernet card, and the sound card is on-board to.
I installed Windows ME on it befor and the video card was working off the bat. Don't supose there is any way to just use the drivers from the Windows ME, on the 98 ....(Guess I should have looked for the video's name befor formating )
