Link problem

when i click on a link, on a page i visit with the address bar, say theirs a link that opens up another webpage, or a window that shows a larger image of a prduct, well, it doesnt open, the background of the window is clear instead of white, and it doesnt open the page, i think its something with the javascript because everyone of these links have to do with it, but its also telling me to download the microsoft virtual machine even though i downloaded it 3 times, someone help this is restricting some important pages from me.

Forget Virtual Machine and get the real Java (it may just be a personal preference of mine, but I personally have had A LOT less problems with java appletts[sp?] with the real Java). Also have you doublechecked to make sure Virtual Machine is enabled in Internet Options? If not go to Internet Options -> Advanced tab and scroll down about half way. Reboot required if you enable or disable it.

Don't forget to post the info AnnMarie requested in case the problem is something else.

its all links, the post above by baser x, linking to the java website doesnt work, a select few links work, because of this problem i copy and paste the link on the adress bar, its just an inconveinence but still i shouldnt have to do that.

I checked in advanced internet options and checked off the following:

Use Java 2.v1 4.2 for applet ( requires restart)

Exactly when do i restart?

As for the Microsoft VM options, i have the following checked.

Java console enabled ( requires restart)

JIT compiler for virtual machine enabled (requires restart)

Again, i dont know when to restart

Hi ihaveaglassjaw - restart now if you havent already done so. Re, your linux question. It would be better to post that question in our Linux Forum. Many of the contributors are also Windows users.

If you still have problems with links after rebooting, try this. Download mcrepair.exe from here. Close IE, run mcrepair.exe and reboot afterwards.

(When you run this executable, it asks you whether you wish to overwrite newer files, make sure to click YES for each file.)

Let us know how you get on.
