Desktop Problem

For the past few months, the display and look of my desktop screen has changed significantly. THe screen is washed out, with many of the icons faded or distorted in colour.

I am using Windows 98 and my computer details are:
GenuineIntel
x86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 6
192MB Ram.

If anyone has any ideas of what the problem is, or any solutions, that would be greatly appreciated.

Right click on your desktop - properties - settings and check out your screen colors. Generally speaking, the more colors the better.
