When I move my mouse pointer over an open window in the background of the window I am viewing, that window comes to the foreground. I can't find a setting in Win2k to change this setting. Any ideas?

you are talking about xmouse, windows 2k has no way to change this setting (that I'm aware of) you have to change it in the registry. But, if you're using a third party enhancement program for the os, you may find the setting in there. x-tech systems is one such program. I have a tut somewhere on how to do this via the registry. I'll scrounge it up and post it as soon as I can.

Don't know If you have the same options (I have ME) but try this

control panel/folder options/general tab/ see if single click to open an item, point to select is checked. If it is...take out the dot and select double click to open an item.

Thanks for the suggestions! Everything in the folder options are set correctly. It shouldnt have any third party software. It is a factory install from Dell.
I look forward to getting the registry edit tut and giving it a try.

Thanks in advance

Active Window Tracking (X-Mouse) (Windows NT)
Makes your mouse control Window activation, wherever you move your mouse the window will become active, like Unix X-Windows.

Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse]
Value Name: ActiveWindowTracking
Data Type: REG_DWORD
Data: (0=disable,1=enable)

open regedit, navigate to the above key, right click on "active window tracking in the right pane, select modify then change the value to 0 to disable. save your change and reboot.

this is from a freeware file called reghelp. from regedit.com I picked it up back in 98.
