WOW!!! A huge increase in speed

I use a 56k modem in my home PC to get on the internet. Of course it's always been a bit slow but I couldn't see paying $50.00 or $60.00 a month for DSL.
Last week I got an e-mail from my ISP (a local company) informing me that they are now offering Speedweb Accelerated Internet services for an additional $3.00 per month on top of the $17.95 I already pay. They said I could expect a speed increase of 500% or more, their web site says an increase of 5 to 12 times faster. Sooooo.......I signed up.

They were telling the truth. Web sites that use to take minutes to load are now loading in 10 seconds or less. My home PC is now nearly as fast as my office PC on a T1 line. I'm loving this.

All I had to do at my end was install a very small program (about 700k). They don't cache the web pages on my PC, they have installed a new server with software that compresses web pages before they are sent to me, then the small program on my PC decompresses the file. The only drawback is that it won't increase the speed of FTP downloads.

Cyber Tech was one of the slowest loading web sites I visit, but now all of the pages pop up in about 2 to 3 seconds.

Glad to hear that it works for some people, yes you are right it won't speed up downloading files and gaming. This is the first opinion on it I have heard

Interesting to hear your opinion on this, I was sceptical so it's good to hear your first hand review

I was sceptical too, but I figured for $3.00 a month I couldn't go wrong. Besides, I have a great ISP and it would have taken just one quick call to cancel the service if I didn't like it. So far it's exceeding my expectations and well worth $3.00.
