Angry Unable to access a specific webpage

I'm unable to access any webpage located on the www.geocities.com site. I have been trying to access two different personal webpages hosted by geocities, and am unable to do so.

The following message comes up when I try:

"Internet Explorer cannot download....(name of the specific webpage) from www.geocities.com

Internet Explorer was not able to open this internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later."

The problem is, I was able to access these sites last night with no problem. I haven't done anything to any settings since last night. All I have done since last night is shut down my computer.

I had this same problem about two months ago where I couldn't access any geocities pages. Then just this past week, for an unknown reason, I was able to access them, without changing any settings. Then again this morning, it's back to being unable to access them.

I don't think the sites are down, because this is a long term problem, but here are the links just in case:

http://www.geocities.com/universalwr...ederation2003/
www.geocities.com/ewawrestling79/

This is a very frustrating problem because I don't understand why specifically just geocities that's causing me problems. I can access every other single site on the internet (or atleast the ones I try to access) including another free webpage server, angelfire.

If anyone has a clue what's causing this problem I would GREATLY appreciate any help.

You're right that the sites are working. Try looking for a file called hosts which should be in the system32 folder (not hosts.sam) and open it up in notepad and see if there are any entries relating to geocities there, and if there are delete them and reboot.

I have the same problem. I can log in to any of my geocities accounts. I can modify, upload, ect. ect. But I can not view any geocities pages. I checked my system32 file. There isn't a host file in there. Any other ideas?

Btw. This only started happening after I formated my pc.
