DUN/ IP conflicts

When using DUN with a NIC installed in a PC, I see alot of issues where Windows will put a fake IP in its configuration when the PC is off the LAN. This causes a conflict with DUN when trying to connect via modem. Somtimes releasing the ip will not work and you have to create a hardware profile and disable the NIC when using DUN. Any ideas why Windows has this conflict and is there an easier way to resolve it?

Sorry I dont have an answer for you. I haven't had any experience with NIC cards..

Hopefully someone will be along that will be able to help....
