Are there any numbers before or after that message? Could be several things. 1. You could of downloaded the Backdoor.NTHack virus from a remote host into your computer. This virus is initiated by the Dl.bat file in the InetPub\Scripts folder. As a result, both the Firedaemon.exe and Sud.exe files are installed on the computer as well as the Os2srv.exe and Mmtask.exe files, which along with the Sud.exe and Index.exe files are run as services. Do a search and see if you have these files 2. Could be THIS 3. Could Be THIS

This comes up a lot with corrupt or incompatible device drivers. Try pulling everything, including the video card (use another one) from the system. Modem, sound, network, SCSI cards...everything.
Try booting to the system and see if it will disable the devices. If so, then access the Device Manager and try to remove them if they are still present. If the system does boot, then power down, insert the original video card and try again. If the problem persists then you know what the problem is. Remove the device drivers for the original video card and reinstall them. If it boots fine, then power down and repeat the process for another piece of hardware, like the NIC, or modem. If the modem, sound, and/or NIC are part of the motherboard, then enter the BIOS and disable those devices. Re-enable one device at a time only. You can also try moving the device to other PCI slots if possible. Stay away from the top and bottom PCI slots. Try disabling the USB ports within the BIOS as well. Ensure that the video is being assigned an IRQ in the BIOS. Some BIOSs do not allow this feature, some do. Hope this helps. |
