Well, I'm having a problem with my monitor, if I leave the computer unattended for a while, the screen just goes black!! If I hit any key, which would normally spring the computer back to life, nothing happens, just the blank screen. I have to restart and sometimes re-boot a few times, before eventually the monitor works. I have tried using a screensaver as well, but this didn't help at all.

Any ideas of how to fix this will be muchly appreciated.

What if any software or hardware changes have you made lately ? Possibly coinciding with this starting ?

Well now that you come to mention this Mishy, I had to install a new hard drive a couple of weeks ago, but this has only just started acting up the last few days or so!! :(

try this

Start>Control Panel>Power>(Select "none" or OFF). Notwithstanding the documentation that comes with Windows, some motherboards and some early versions of Windows have a hello of a time with power settings - especially the "Advanced" settings.

The manuals will tell you that these settings will work but as Porgy says: "It Ain't neccesarily so!"

BTW Iff'n you be under 60 do a search for Gershwin and/or Porgy 'n Bess. The Sammy Davis/Dorothy Dandridge recording of the soundtrack is probably about as good as it gets and that's OK because I could listen to that all day :)

Well it was the monitor energy settings that was causing the problem, I now have them all set to "never"!!!
