Hello, i am trying to boot my computer, however the computer will get stuck on the windows 95 logon screen. It will give two click like sounds coming from the cpu, and do nothing. After that it will just keep doing those click sounds and not boot up.
I bought a new computer and moved this computer that i have been having problems with into another room. After i moved it it didnt start up again. Please advise. Thanks

The clicking could have been your hard drive heads giving you an indication the the drive was about to go to that big bit bucket in the sky.
Does the computer do anything right now when you try to start it?
A description of the system might help some.

The computer does not get past the Windows 95 login screen. I also tried to reformat my hard drive by using a start up disk, but when it starts to check the drive, it will do the same clicking thing again. I have tried to start in safe mode, but get the same results.
The computer is an old compaq presario. im not sure of the specs as i need to go home to get them.
Thanks for your prompt responses.

You might be able to locate a diagnostic on the hard drive manufacturer's site and run it from the boot disk that comes, usually, with the diagnostic. I recently did this with a hard drive that sometimes went click, click and the diagnostic recommended immediate backup and hard drive replacement which I did.
