I appear to have picked up some bug that is blanking my windows when I open certain applications (Internet Explorer, My Computer, Control Panel etc). They all appear to work ok except that when I initially open them they just display a blank window, which I then have to right-click and close before I can view the contents underneath. Any ideas?

Do you think it is a bug or a Virus? If you want to rule out a virs go to CTH's Virus support page and follow the link to Housecalls online Virus Scanner. Works great.
