Whenever i click on a link that would normally open a new IE window or right click and then select 'open in a new window' the page comes up blank with nothing in the address bar. I'm using IE6 on XP.
cheers

Hi Rob
have you got any popup blocking software running on your machine?

it's my parents computer, and i don't think so, and my cursory checks(add/remove programs and program files haven't shown anything). but if you know of a better check.

I'm thinking if there's a pop-up blocker it'll kill the page rather than leave it blank, but that's just a guess.
By any chance, is it a javascript link? You can find out by placing the mouse over the link and looking at the address at the bottom of the browser. If it's javascript then your only option is to click it, opening in a new window doesn't work...

I've used the information on this page (http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/answers2.htm#blank_windows) to fix the blank IE windows on several systems.

Thanks Miz, just wanted to pass on the standard advice that editing the registry can potentially cause lots of problems, so back it up before you click anything :)

The page doen't describe my problem, in that any new window that opens is completely blank, with a blank address bar.

The exact symptoms you describe - blank window with blank address bar - are the exact symptoms I've fixed using the instructions on the page I linked to in my first post.
Specifically, running the "regsvr32" commands for the various dll files.

thanks very much, running the first regsvr32 dll worked a treat
