HELP! PC won't go into normal startup mode
Running 98 on a Presario. We ran RegCleaner 4.1 on our PC because it seemed to be having very poor response. Everything seemed to work fine afterward. Then, we executed the routine to "Reset hardware configuration", which is supposed to "re-detect all the harware".
Well, all of a sudden, we can barely get the thing up and running. I have to force it into Safe Mode by holding the CTRL key down after I start up. If I don't hold the CTRL key, it seems to try to boot into Safe Mode, but freezes with a blue screen, and an upward arrow & hourglass. HELP PLEASE!!!! Thanks.

Hi welcome to CTH...
Have you tried to restore the registry? If not do this. Go to true dos. At the command prompt C: type scanreg /restore Leave a space between the G and / Choose a date prior to this happening.... Then go back to the Command prompt and type scanreg /fix See if windows will fix the registry.... |
