Is There A Program Out There...

That can do batch image resizing, preferably a freebie?

Paint Shop Pro 8 does batch resizing. I doubt that it is free, but you might find a timed trial version on their site.

www.jasc.com

<edit> yup, the site has a 30 day timed version

Looks like Irfanview can do it. Under Batch conversion/rename Advanced options.

I use IrfanView all the time to resize images. Just press "B" and click the "Use advanced options" box, then you can "Set advanced options" to resize, crop, etc.

What I use when I have a bunch of graphics to resize or change resolution is graphic workshop

All you have to do is to select the thumbnails you want changes and crop or whatever.

Cool, if I want to do a whole folder of pictures, do the programs let you do the resize into another folder, so the original sizes are kept safe?

You can save the output from IrfanView to another folder, I do that as well!

graphic workshop will, in fact it will automatically change the name of the picture so that it will not get lost in the batch.
