Is there anyway of overcoming the annoying Logon pop-up box which appears every time OE is started and necessitates the entry of password details. Have been into Tools / Accounts / Mail / Properties / Servers, completed the Password box and checked ‘Remember Password’ but without success. Have been unable to find any other relevant settings.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the suggestion but unfortunately no luck. I think I have tried every possible setting fix but without success so don't worry anymore about it; it's no big deal, just bloody annoying.

Alan, this usually has something to do with your Primary Network Logon.
Couple of questions:
1) Do you use Windows Profiles (login password to get in to windows desktops)?
2) What is the primary network logon showing under Control Panel/network.
3) Does it prompt for the username & password for your email account?

Hi smurfy,
Bear with me if I don't quite comprehend your questions because of my lack of expertise but I'll do my best.
1)--My win 98 system was never configured to require logon during the boot/reboot sequence before reaching the desktop; however, when I changed over to cable recently there was a Network Connection login window which appeared prior to desktop but it was possible to adjust settings to circumvent this. It was only the other day that I went looking for Windows Profiles as the result of a thread on another board but it did not register in a Find/Files search.
2)--"Windows Logon" is the entry in the Primary Netwok Logon box.
3)-- I don't know whether it is responsible but whenever I open OE and before I can access my mail, the Logon box appears with my User Name already included but requiring the insertion of my password.
Thanks for your interest.
Alan
