ok heres what i got
epox EP-6VBE mainboard
PIII 550
64meg ram
6gig harddrive and windows98SE
now this epox doesnt have any usb ports on the board even though the bios has usb in it and it is enabled
we did get the socket connecter to the main board and pluged it in and still no usb.
Next thing i did was go to the store and buy a pci usb card but all it will do is lock up when its figuring the drivers.
next thing i did was to email d-link whos card it is and ive not heard anything back from them.
and epox help site isnt much help.
im suppose to have this computer done tonight
and it dont look like it,so any help will be accepted and welcomed.

Hi
ironside try this go into the bios and disable usb. What the usb in the bios is for if the usb is on the board not another card.

Hi
Hae you tried it in another PCI slot? Also you could try and remove all references to it in device manager, and then try reinstalling.

hey I got it, I had to remove all pci cards like modem and sound card, I found out you cant have a shared irq with one of these usb cards, now all i got to do is get the modem and sound card back in and have usb still work.
thanks FrostyPhrog
I do appreciate it

Hi
Hey no problem glad you got it working. Before I activated the onboard usb on my board I had a dlink card and it worked great.
Good luck on the rest of the setup.

alright this is what im going to end up with it doing
the usb will work until you shut down and restart then you lose the key board and mouse
but the scanner still works, so with the adapters in place for the keybord which is also ps2 and the mouse adapter from usb to ps2 they work quite well.
the main reason to get usb support was to get the scanner to work.
in the future we will stay a way from epox main boards

Hi
ironside what kind of board are you going togo with. You know that you can but the adapter so you can use the usb on the board, and not have to use the add on card. Try any good computer store and they should have what you want. Maybe this will work better and you won't have to switch out the boards. When I say a computer store, I don't mean best buy.

Hi
Good luck with this new board. Don't give up on the epox board. I will ask around and see what I can come up with about the usb for you. Just give me a couple of days to see what I can come up with.
