Can anyone please help me!
I cannot seem to get the volume control adjusted to my liking. Every time I want to listen to something using my headset, I have to adjust the synthesiser control, in the volume control set up. It is always up to full volome, far too hight for my delicate ears. I can lower the volume, but then if I close whatever I'm listening to, and open up another sound, the synthesiser button is at "full" again???
Any help will be muchly appreciated.
Dave.

Have you tried the Save Settings on Exit option?

Thank you TramTwo.
When I tried the adjusting, it was only after double clicking on the speaker in the tools bar, and I never saw a "save as" or even an "apply" option!

Oh I am sorry, I thought you had fixed it.

What sound card do you use?

You can also start Volume Control by clicking Start, pointing to Programs, pointing to Accessories, pointing to Entertainment, and then clicking Volume Control.

This volume control gives you no way to manually save the settings.

I read you mouse post as well, seems no changes that you make to your system are sticking... hum

What software are you using to play your sounds - It sounds (no pun intended) like it is re-setting volume to it's own settings.

Thanks guys, I can't yet find out what soundcard I'm using!! I went into the control panel and had a look around there, but it doesn't show any soundcard, or at least i can't see it!! Please be kind to me, I ain't yet used to this kind of thing!!!
I do use MS Media Player, version 6.4, and also MusicMatch JukeBox, the free version.
Dave.

Ok Dave, here goes.

To tell what soundcard you have:
Start/Settings/Control Panel/System >> Sound, Video & Game controllers

In Windows Media Player (I'm running 6.01 not 6.4 but should be the same), View/Options/Playback >> Audio volume slider will reset your Windows Volume control.

Thank you Smurfy.
I think I have narrowed it down to Midi files!! It seems that every time I want to play a Midi file, it plays at full volume.
I have gone to where you suggested, and lowered the volume control, but now I can't hear any Midi files at all!! I can hear me e-mail reminder, and can listen to music through Music Match Jukebox though.
I also did the search you suggested for the soundcard, here's what I found......
ALS4000 AUDIO DEVICE (WDM)
ALS4000 GAME PORT
WAVE DEVICE FOR MODEM

Any more help will be muchly appreciated.
