Sometimes the cursor arrow would suddenly stop moving. It just stays there, but the mouse still works. I can move it over menus and it would highlight them, but the cursor stays where it was and the actually location of the pointer has no arrow. The computer still works, basically everything works, except that the arrow does not move with the mouse.

In Device Mgr, everything look OK re: the mouse? Try upgrading the driver perhaps?

Weird stuff sometimes gets corrupted for no apparent reason.....

Hello Dere

That's probably a video driver issue. Go into device manager and "Remove" your display adapter. Reboot.

Windows will reinstall your video drivers.

Reinstalled and updated everything. Still does not work. I think the problem have to do with the vmm32.vxd file, it probably got corrupt when the computer froze during the installation of drivers for a NIC card.

Anyone here has the MS Intellimouse Optical running on USB? Look in Device Manager under Mouse and view the Properties of the Microsoft USB Intellimouse Optical (IntelliPoint), click on the Driver tab and then Driver File Details, then click on C:\Windows\System\Vmm32.vxd (ntkern.vxd). Does the Provider, File Version, and Copyright show anything? Or does it just say Not Available for all of them? Then go check the actually vmm32.vxd file in C:\Windows\System, view the Properties. How many tabs are there? Is there a Version tab?

I'm going to install Win2000 soon. Would it replace all my current drivers with new ones? Could I just update my current system, so that I don't have to backup (files) and reinstall all the programs?
