How many years do you think Windows 98 will be the OS of choice? Or another way of asking... how long will all the computers that have Windows 98 installed as the OS last? I have a sister that I gave my old IBM 486DX (75Mhz 4MB Ram) to (circa '93), it has Windows 3.11 and she still uses that thing everyday. I have had the chance to upgrade this OS and I wont. I mean I still use the 4.10.1999 version no SE, don't want it.

The only reason I ever upgraded was, that a technical feature wasn't met anymore by the older system, which I really wished to have.
Practically I was always about 2 years behind time (HW and SW). This kept life calm and constant http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/smile.gif
For the moment I don't see any feature in the next future (min 2 years), which requires me to leave my barebone 98lite system. Even though some minor HW-upgrades might be due than http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/smile.gif

I'm still using 95a and will continue till there comes a time when I will have to change. It does everything I need to do with no problems. I don't use USB, I'm not concerned about disk space, so I don't need FAT32. The list goes on...I know people still using 3.1 & 3.11, because it does all they need in a computer.

Same here Topdog. 95a can be a solid stable system with a little care and attention.
I will upgrade to 98se sooner or later to get USB support but that's about it. I will still want to have a 95a backup setup available though. (Just a min specs bare bones system).
I think 98se will last a bit longer than 95 (a, b or c). Lets see, 5 years since 95 and lots of us still using it...
Could be another 3 years at least of 98 being the O/S of choice for home users.
