I have a 30 gig hard drive that I just formatted because I had registry issues that caused my pc to freeze every 10 minutes. So I formatted my hard disk, put in my 98 boot disk, and then it told me I had to partition my hard drive by running fdisk. So I did that (maybe wrong, I formatted it right after and tried the extended and without it). After that I tried installing 98 (the fdisk message didn't appear again) and now all it is telling me is that I dont have enough hard drive space to intall 98!! Please help!! thanx so much

oh, and evry time I try to do anything with dirve c, it says invalid media type reading drive c. When I run fdisk / status it says:

Disk------------Drv--------Mbytes---------Free------------Usage
1-------------------------38147-------------------------100%
------------- C:---------38147------------------------------

Maybe you should redo the partition & format. If the above stuff relates to the FDISK menu item #4 output, there's information missing. Here's what you need to establish when you're configuring a disk with FDISK for Windows/DOS:

1. After you've removed everything and have nothing but Unallocated Space left, you need to make a PRIMARY Partition and you can use all the space or as much as you want for the OS partition.
2. If you have any space left, then you will make that into an EXTENDED Partition, and then you'll assign DRIVE Letters to the Extended Partition.
3. You'll also need to set the Primary Partition as the ACTIVE Partition - this is automatically done if you only have one partition on the disk.
4. You need to restart for these settings to take effect.
5. After the restart, you should FORMAT each partition that you've made.
