when I first start my puter in the morning, it boots up fine, the desktop is there.
When I want to go on the net, I click on OE, or Ie and I get connected automatically. That has been the way it always worked, till yesterday.
Now when I boot up for the first time of the day, it automatically connects me to the net. I don't want that and when I tried to get off the net, it came back on after about 2 minutes.
I don't know how the setting got changed and I don't know where to correct it... thanks ..

Have you run a virus killer lately?

It sounds like you have your internet set up to connect automaticly when a program request's access and this can be triggered by a trojan.

What version browser do you use, some have an auto update feature. So do some media players like Real Player and Windows Media Player. This may be the cause.

The first place I would check is..

MSIE>> Tools>> Internet Options>> Connections
Check to make sure "Always dial my defult connection" is ticked.

Do you have any other browsers installed?

Hi Tram,
I have IE5. no other browsers, and what you said to check is checked. (default ?)
I did shut down and restarted 30 min. later and it worked the way it should. Go figure.
I have a browser question and will post it now.. thanks, guys. carol
