Display Adapters
I have been fixing a few small problems on my brothers PC which is an old penitium 233 with a 2 gig hard drive running Windows 98.
I have correctly installed the drivers for the monitor however he is only able to view 16 colours and only at 640 x 480. If you change the display properties to 800 x 600 and to 256 colours or someelse else it said you must restart the computer. When he does that it comes up with an error siad the display adapters are incorrect. Does that mean he does not have the correct driver for the video card. Can you suggest anything? Regards Ernie |

That would be my guess, what type of video card is he running (name,)? Is it integrated? Integrated Graphics Card is a graphics card whose chips are actually built onto the motherboard itself.

If you can get online, you can run the www.pcpitstop.com diagnostic which will, I think, list the video adapter/chip's manufacturer and model and then find and download the needed driver. If you can download aida32 from CTH, it too will define the adapter. Another prossible option is buying and installing a new, but old, video adapter or AGP w/driver.
