Hi, back again. For a brief description: I'm running Windows 98SE. I installed DSL about 6 months ago, and ever since, applications that access the internet will "suspend" or "hang" for about 60 seconds before finally responding to any input and continuing with normal processing. This will happen periodically. I'm not certain of the frequency, but I'd guess about once every 15 minutes or so. The last suggestion I had was to go to Internet Options and Setup a New Internet Connection. I tried that.... no help.
Internet Explorer will also, from time to time give me a popup box that says:
WORK OFFLINE
No connection to the Internet is currently available.
To view Internet Content that has been saved on
your computer, click WORK OFFLINE.
Click TRY AGAIN to attempt to connect.
I click try again and things proceed from there.
I get the feeling there is "something" that is still perhaps looking for, or expecting to find, my old dialup internet connection?? It's just a guess.....
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
