Lightbulb Looking for some ideas

Hi all! I'm about to start a new site. I've done a few now, but I'm looking to expand my talent. To this point, I've used NetObjects Fusion to create the sites. I've done a little with Java (never really had a use for it), just a hint with CGI scripts, and some flash to top it off. Everything has been HTML. The newest project is mostly informational, but I need to be able to do like a "New Events" update and photo gallery update remotely. It can be a pain to republish all the time in Fusion.

What I'm getting at is: does anyone have any suggestions as to how to go about doing this? Would a php site work better for updating? I can get my hands on basically any program at school, so the sky's the limit. Let me know and thanks in advance.

- Will

P.S. - Here's one site I did: www.lqpvstudentcouncil.org
I have a bad habit of not explaining things fully, so feel free to ask some ?s about the project!!!

The site looks fine the way it is. It seems to serve it's purpose. The html is easy to read and I like that. Was it hand done or was a wysiwyg program used?

I am not sure exactly what you are asking for but ...

There are news scripts that will help with keeping the news updated. I use one called cutenews. It is in php but you can also get them in cgi. To update all I have to do is to type sososwebsite.com/cutnews in my browser and it takes me to a login screen - then all I have to do is to type the news and it will automatically update the different pages. You can get scripts here . Whether or not you use those scripts, they will give you ideas as to what to do.

oink - NetObjects Fusion is a wysiwyg program. It's quite nice

renegade600 - That's exactly what I'm after! I'll try to give that a go this evening.

Does anyone know if there's a similar setup to what renegade600 suggested, but instead it can update a photo gallery?

I would suggest looking at PHP content managemnet such as phpnuke
There are many modules that you can add to the scripts for galleries, guestbooks, forums etc.
