infuninst.exe is a modem optimizer program. you can get it here: http://www.modem-drivers.com/drivers/72/72586.htm
Does the modem show up in device manager? Since you reinstalled the os twice, make sure you have gotten and installed all updates and patches before trying to install the modem. get the windows updates here: http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp good luck

No load modem driver.
It is possible that Windows gave your Modem's IRQ to something else.
Go into Device Manager and see if your modem is there, if it is look for a red X. The red X usually means that something has been manually disabled and you now have an IRQ conflict, at the top of Device Manager click on the word COMPUTER and it will take you to the IRQ listings. PCI modems usually use IRQs 9, 10, or 11. If two or more things (your modem being one of them) have the same IRQ then you will have to go into the BIOS and force the slot that your modem is in to use another IRQ, or just try putting it into a different slot.

No luck. When I ran the infunist.exe program it asked moe if I wanted to remove the "I" form the computer. Selected yes and continued but got the same problem. When I use the modem icon in the Control panel and select the correct modem (coneant modem in a Compaq computer) it asks me for the Windows modem installation disk which I don't have. it just won't self install the driver automatically or manuelly. It also wants to install the modem on COM 1.
