Unhappy Slave Hard Drive

hi
installed slave hard drive and followed the instructions on a tutorial on this support group
when i restarted the pc came up with "invalide media type reading drive D"
and wouldnt start
unpluged slave harddrive and starts ok
what wrong?

did you check the jumper settings?

different manufacturers have different settings.
you may also have to alter the jumpers on the primary drive.

So you ran fdisk, it completed normally, instructed you to reboot, you did and that is when you got the error message?

Make sure the master drive is connected to the last IDE connector and the jumper is set to master (ma); and, the slave is jumpered to slave. Boot with discette, run fdisk and see if both hard drives show up. If they do, run format on the slave.
