Exclamation Error 691 Need Help.....

heres the situation....i currently signed up for this local internet service in the next town over, when i got home to install the software and loaded it up and opened to run it, it gave me the 691 error for wrong password error when i logged into my account, so i double checked everything made sure the caps lock was off and everything correct, typed in a known working account, it connected right away, so that evening i took it back and had them fix it and reinstall their software, they told me it was the modem, so they dropped a new modem in and reinstalled the software again, found out it wasnt the modem, and had something about the network drivers, they took them out and reinstalled them...now when i get home from a hour drive, it connected right up and noticed they had used their account to fix the connection, so when i change over to my account, log it in it dials up and connects, then about a hour later, i disconnect run a few errands in town and come back to log in and the dern thing gave me the same 691 error!!!!!!!

my question..... i would like someone to explain to me what i need to do take out and fix the network drivers so i can reinstall the software, i attempted to do this at home and it just basically reinstalled the same network drivers and did the same thing with the 691 error, if anyone has a different way to reinstall network drivers that can help so that i dont have to waste time and get charged, for something i can fix at home..lol

First off, when entering your user name, you may need to enter the entire email address as a login, for example try using user@myisp.com instead of just user, or if you currently use the full email address try the opposite by just using user instead of user@myisp.com. Most commonly error 691 IS a bad username and/or password, and not including your domain could cause the error, or including the domain when not need can have the same result.

But there are many other reasons you may receive this error like line noise, equipment failure, problems on your ISP's end, etc. If changing your user name doesn't work, it would be best to call your ISP and try to resolve it with them. Have them test your line, if it is noisy you'll get errors, dropped connections, slow downloads, etc. If that doesn't resolve the issue, there are other tests they can run or they may just be able to reset the account w/ and set up a new password for you.

Password error.

The first thing you should do is call you ISP and have someone in tech support test your password on their own equipment, that will rule out a server issue and also ask them exactly how you should be entering your username and password and then try to login again.

Are you using Windows 98?
