Hi,
I have a Dell desktop about 2 years old and it came with Microsoft Works which also installed Microsoft Word. Just start having a problem. When I would open the Word program new document the letters "kj" would always be on the screen. You can erase them no problem but they come on the screen everytime you open a new document. I unistalled Word and install Microsoft Office Suite 2000 and the same thing happens.
Any idea why?
Thanks for your help.

When you installed Works and Word, did you put your name or initials in??

These may be your initials, if not then im baffled.

Sounds like you need to change your startup template. Search the help on your version of Word to see how to change that. It will give step by step instructions. If you need more help here, please give the version of your word.

Evidently, the letters "kj" got saved to, as renegade600 said, the startup template, which is called "normal.dot."

You can do a search of the harddrive for "normal.dot" (without the quotes) and delete all you find. Then restart Word and a new template will be created.

If you've made a lot of changes to Word...toolbars and other customizations...those will all be lost. To avoid that, open Word, delete the "kj" and then go to Save As. Navigate to where your search told you normal.dot is located and save the open document as "normal.dot." It will ask if you want to overwrite, tell it yes.
