Tried to play new game but drivers for sound where not certified with directx. Tried to update drivers and here's where the problem started. Everthing in CONTROL PANEL/SYSTEM/SOUND & GAMES says that drivers are enabled and no problem. In CONTROL PANEL/MULTIMEDIA/ under the AUDIO tab there is nothing, same with the MIDI tab. Under DEVICE tab in the audio and mixer section it says "Driver is enabled but inactive due to an unknown problem". Then when pc is started there is a warning that says "CMI'S sb16 driver alert". Have been trying to fix for 3 weeks and have come to the end of my tether. Please help. :confused:

Have you tried changing the drivers in your devise manager?

Hi Mojoman, welcome to Cyber Tech Help.

Did you get your updated drivers from C-Media? They say that
the fix is to uninstall then reinstall the update drivers.

The link to C-Media is here (http://www.cmedia.com.tw/e_download_1.html).

UPDATE;
I've shuffled around a bit and scuttlebutt is that this file is a
fix for a shutdown problem related to your problem. MSGSRV32 error fix for SB16 Driver alert (http://webdoc.intcomex.cl/soporte.nsf/074c81108b0e0ae5042564bf00807679/fdc3340a3503c567042566330066bf75?OpenDocument). The file
is at the very bottom-left of the page,
name = 8330v52.exe

Edited for update

Great, and your welcome.

Glad your working good. Like they say "If it ain't broke don't fix it"
so keeping the file aside, till you need it, is good.
