I have win98se on one of my hard drives and I also want to install it onto my 2nd hard drive. I know this is a simple question, but how do I do it? Whenever I try to install form the CD the installer scans drice c and prepares to install and I never get the chance to select a different drive to install into.
I am mainly a Mac user, so the basics of the windows world (like installing the os!)
are quite cloudy to me.
thnx

It may not be as simple as you think. You avoid an otherwise sticky licensing question by installing the OS twice on same machine, but I would need to ask how you intend to use the second install of the same OS or what you wish to accomplish.

I intend to use it mainly for file sharing via the internet, and want to keep it seperate from the my main disk.

If you wish to dual boot, you would be well advised to do it with 98SE and Win2k or XP. Win2k and XP have built in boot loaders which allow you to switch between systems. Loading 98SE twice on the same computer creates a problem in itself and then you would need a third party software as a boot commander. Although I have never tried do this , I am quite sure that 98SE would go psycho on you seeing a bunch of duplicated system files.

You need
XOSL (http://www.xosl.org/)
This is a multiple OS boot loader.
The way I always used to boot multiple instances of same O/S was to partition into 3 - 1 for each O/S and one shared partition visible to both O/S.
Then I configure XOSL to HIDE the partition with one OS whenevr I booted the other.
This Howto (from the XOSL site) explains it better than I can though.

If you have the money and are prepared to pay for a program then I would recommend Partition Magic.
This will let you run multiple operating systems on a PC.
It does this by hiding the Partitions/Drives/Operating Systems from each other. So that OS1 doesn't know that OS2 exists.
PM also contains a Boot Manager and allows you to partition without losing data.
