video editing

I have a problem with a video editing program bundled with my digital camera. It's basically a still camera but has a low resolution video facility for short clips. The ULead video studio supplied with it is supposed to be able to edit clips into a longer video form. It just will not do that as it will not accept the the clips I load into it. It will play each clip separately although I get an error message on loading up each one (referring to lack of recognition of the format). If I try to connect them together to make a longer clip I just get a blank screen.
Is it the low resolution which is causing the problem? The ULead company don't answer my queries!
